I'm am testing out this phone app for the blog.

Kyle and I hiked skyline the day after Christmas. I used my new Droid Razr phone for my camera and video camera. I am thinking about just using my phone for my camera for the PCT. It takes pretty good pictures and will save weight.

The hike went well. Kyle was a little tired at the top. But we made it to the tram station in 5 hours 45 minutes. We were even back down to indio in time to play 9 holes of golf.

  1. The pictures look sharp with a reasonable range of color. Along with the weight savings, it also will help with one less thing to manage and charge. It'll definitely make your dispatches easier with just one device.

Then again, you may also want to cherish the memories only an SLR, heavy glass, and tripod could provide.

  2. Yeah I think it will work out. I posted the pics on my picasa account and they look even better in full size. These were uploaded using the Blogger app and it has to shrink them down.

And you're right...I was also thinking of bringing this to really capture the memories.

  3. A cinema camera, very nice. We should make a short film and submit it to Banff.
I saw the new Razr in person last weekend. It is huge, along with almost all Verizon phones now.
