20 miles
So right before we went to sleep we discussed how we were probably going to get soaked from condensation in the morning. Sure enough, we woke up and our sleeping bags were soaked.
We decided to carry our sleeping bags on the outside of our packs to dry them off. It looked pretty goofy.
The hunters had left camp early and we heard them making elk calls from the trees.
About 4 miles from camp we camp across a pair of elk on the hillside.
The rest of the day was pretty easy, we only had one climb.
We got the road into Trout Lake around 2:30. We both had packages in trout lake. Luckily there were 2 older gentlemen finishing up a day hike when we got there and immediately asked if we wanted a ride into town.
We spent the rest of the day in town and got a ride back into town around 7:30pm.
We are camped with Stryder. He is planning on hiking with us tomorrow.
