Saturday, September 5

Today was another long but motivated day to get to town.

We hiked through some beautiful wilderness areas. There were big peaks on all sides of us. We had one major climb over a pass. It topped out around 11800ft. It was a brutal climb. But once again the Colorado views from the top were just awesome.

We passed a spring where you could see the water coming straight out of the ground. It was freezing cold delicious water.

Near the end of the day we entered Rocky Mountain National Park. There were a ton of people on the trail and driving around the roads. Being Labor day weekend didn't help.

We crossed over the Colorado river. It is very small at the point we crossed. Not the mighty river it will soon be later on.

We made it into Grand Lake around 6pm. After around 35 miles of hiking. Our feet were killing us today.

We went to the bbq place and had a fun night with a couple siting next to us at the bar. They were from Colorado Springs and up for the weekend. We all ended up closing down the bar. They were staying at the same motel and drove us back at the end of the night (about a half mile from the bbq place). We really appreciated it!
