Tuesday, September 8

We woke up to clear skies above us. We began the climb up to the divide. The ground was frozen all the way up. When we got above treeline, we saw the clouds hovering around the divide.

We finally reached the divide at around 12000ft and the wind was relentless. The clouds were forming and blowing over the ridge at high speeds. We were frozen. We ended up putting on every layer of clothing we had in our packs.

A couple hours later the clouds finally burned off and the sun was out. The wind didn't let us but we weren't freezing like earlier.

We had a major climb up to James Peak at 13300ft. Our highest point of the trip. We are in the heart of the Rockies now and there were mountains as far as we could see.

Today was a really tough day both mentally and physically, one of the toughest of the trip.
