Last night there were a number of thunderstorms all around us. There was lighting and thunder coming from all directions. Also a good amount of rain.

Today we had a 12.5 mile stretch up to a mild pass, then another 12.5 down to camp.

The temps had definitely cooled, but most of the trail was in a larger burn area.

On the way up the pass, fairly fresh in the mud were some bear prints. We think they were grizzly due to the long claw marks. The prints went about 5 miles up the pass. We expected to turn a corner and see the bear at some point. But didn't see anything.

We got to the pass and had lunch. Crosby and I took out the tents to dry them out from last night's rain.

The afternoon was pretty hot and we took a dip in one of the stream crossings.

Our longest day so far at 25 miles.
