Monday, July 13

The morning was pretty quick. Mostly downhill on fire roads. Heather and I called home to check in because walking on fire roads can be a little boring and we had good service since we were near I-15.

Once we crossed, we were walking north along the 15 on a side road when we heard someone on the freeway honk at us. We waved but didn't realize who it was right away. But after a few seconds I remembered the truck as Momma Bear and Monkey's chase car with Monkey's dad driving. He u-turned on the freeway and exited near us. He had Gatorade and Starbucks frappucinos for us.

Even though he doesn't hike, he has the trail name "Wheels" because he is always driving along trail to support mamma bead and Monkey.

Memphis needed to go back into Butte to get a pair of shoes that were shipped to him. They hadn't arrived in time while we were there. Wheels was able to take him in to Butte and back.

The rest of the day had a good amount of climbing on ATV trails.

On one of the last climbs, a thunderstorm rolled in. We were all together at this point except for Memphis who was in town. We waited in a safe spot for it to pass. There were some close strikes. But it cleared pretty quickly and we made it to camp.

Memphis was able to catch back up as we were cooking dinner. He had picked up a bunch of Burger King hamburgers and chicken nuggets while he was getting his shoes.
