Yesterday we found 3 ripe huckleberries on a bush and we were pretty excited about it. Until this morning when we encountered tons of ripe huckleberries! They were everywhere. We stopped and picked a bunch of them. They were delicious. The first berries we have seen all trail.
After the berries we had our biggest climb of the trip. Just over 3000ft. It was tough. About halfway a thunderstorm hit and Heather and I took shelter under our umbrellas to wait it out.
The area we are in now is really beautiful. We got above treeline after the climb and could see forever.
We are camped at a lake and it may be one of my favorite camps stops so far.
