Monday, August 3

We had a big day to get into town so we got up a littler earlier. We were making good time until a section of trail that required a bushwack. But turns out it was through a swamp...

As we were approaching the bushwack, we noticed a beaver and a lot of beaver dams. The GPS showed us going right through the middle of these pools the dams had created. Maybe in the past, the dams weren't there and this section wasn't so flooded. Soon after following the GPS we realized we were going to have to start swimming if we followed it any further. We cut straight to the hills. There was deep mud and we were sinking to our knees.

After the swamp, it was another 5 miles and 1200ft up according to the GPS. Which didnt seem bad, but the bushwack was just getting started. It wasn't too fun.

The only cool spot was a spring at the top. Apparently it is the most remote source of the entire Missouri/Mississippi river system. Pretty cool.

After the climb we had a long 10 mile road walk into the town of Mack's Inn.

We ate camping at the RV park and had some amazing baby back ribs for dinner.
