Monday, August 17

2 months ago we started the trail. Time is starting to really fly by. We are already about halfway through Wyoming and will be in Colorado very soon. Crazy!

This morning was a cold one. Maybe the coldest so far. We camped somewhere around 10,500ft. All of the condensation on the inside of the tent had frozen into a layer of ice.

Luckily we started with a climb to a pass so we warmed up quickly.

After the pass Heather and I wanted to do a flat, but longer, alternate trail on the map. Andy and Leah decided they wanted to stick to the regular route. Both routes looked nice on the map and we decided to just split up and take the routes we wanted.

Our route was nice, it followed lakes and creeks/rivers all day. There is so much water everywhere around here. You can't go a quarter of a mile without encountering some sort of water source.

The route ended up being longer than we thought. Andy and Leah had about 10 miles while we ended up around 14. I figured they would be way down trail once the 2 routes rejoined. But we all arrived at the junction at the exact same time. It was perfect!
