20 miles

The wind is getting super annoying. We went to sleep in the wind, woke up in the wind, started the day hiking in the wind and finished the day in the wind. It has been like this for a few days and the first couple days of the trail has been the same. We are all ready for the wind to go away.

My group has expanded a little: me, Brendan, Prudence, Nathan (trail name "neon" because he has a number of bright yellow clothes.), and John (from Liverpool England.)

After 8 miles in the morning we made it to the paradise cafe. We stayed there for about 3 hours. I had a big omelet plate for breakfast followed by a root beer float.

We did the final climb up to our current camping spot in the afternoon. We had some awesome views over Palm Springs to the east. Looking west wasn't really possible due to the stupid wind.

  1. Hi Dan,

Yesterday, the four of us were hiking up Devil's Slide (out of Idylwild) and up into the San Jacinto Mtns to Long Valley! Your Mom mentioned that you were in the very same area yesterday! I am soooo impressed that you're doing the PCT! Great adventure that you'll never forget!

Tell your buddy, John, that my parents are both from Liverpool, too! My Mom lived on Fernhill Dr. and my Dad lived on Elaine St. I'm curious to see if he knows where those streets are.

    Have a fantastic journey, Dan.

    1. That's awesome! We must have just missed you guys. We were sleeping at Humbar Park friday night and went to the peak from there.

      Thanks!
      Dan
