25.5 miles

I think today was the most miles we've hiked in a day so far.

We started around 6am after being dropped off. We knew the forecast for Palm Springs was 100 degrees today so we wanted to beat the heat.

Immediately the trail climbed up away from the desert. We passed through a wind farm full of windmills.  About 9 miles in we arrived at the largest stream we have seen so far. It was about 8 ft across and about a foot deep. Since it was warm we took a nice long break and soaked in the cold water.

The wind had picked up at this point and this time I was happy about it. Without the wind, the heat would have been awful. There weren't many trees all day either.

After a long day with about 5000ft of gain, we are camping right next to a small stream. We are at 6000ft right now and will ascend even more tomorrow up to almost 9000ft.
