18.5 miles

Last night we had a lot of people at our camp. We had a fire and hung out. In the morning we all started out within a few minutes of each other.

The weather was cold, windy and misting. We passed through a cow pasture and encountered lots of cows. They were grazing slowly and there were a few that were actually standing on the trail. They would eventually move once we approached. We saw two bulls in a group that were fighting.

We passed by eagle rock which is basically just a rock that looks like an eagle.....pretty cool though.

In 8 miles we made it to Warner Springs. Since the Warner Springs resort has been closed recently. The Warner Springs community center has been turned in to a hiker resupply center. They had everything a hiker needs: power strips to charge electronics, computers with internet, breakfast and lunch being cooked, a foot bath, a room full of hiker food to purchase, even rides to the post office that was 3 miles down the road. It was awesome.

When we got there we all ordered breakfast which was pancakes, eggs, sausage and juice. After we got a ride to the post office to pick up our resupply boxes. I posted pictures online. Then we ordered burgers for lunch. And by order, I mean ask the old lady who was running the kitchen. In fact they were all old ladies who obviously loved helping out all of the hikers that pass through there every day. Donations were recommended for the food and the money was going towards the Warner Springs school district.

After about 4 hours of hanging out there we got back on the trail. We did about 10 more miles and are now camping up on this lookout over an awesome valley. Most of the people we camped with last night are here as well.

  1. Howdy.
I'm enjoying the frequent updates of your epic.
Is that community center just temporary for when the bulk of PCTers go through? I'd imagine it's not normally very busy, especially on weekdays.
How is your knee treating you?

    1. The community center is just a temporary set up for a few weeks while the PCTers go through. And it is basically only for PCTers, so it always has hikers in it no matter what day.

Knee is good, it either doesn't hurt, or it doesn't bother me too much. I just keep stretching.
