27.5 miles

We took our border pictures in the morning then headed up trail so we could get into Ashland for dinner.

The highlight for the day was when we got to a stash of coolers full of soda.

The last 7 miles into Ashland were extremely hot and humid. I was sweating more than I have had before.

We got to the road and headed to Callahan's resort where I had a box and hikers get a free beer (or soda for underagers like Minor). Spatula and Mis-Match were also there. After a couple beers each, the bartender said our next round was paid for by a gentleman at a nearby table. We couldn't believe that a random person who we weren't even talking with had bought us beers just because we were PCT hikers. Afterwards we went over and thanked him and he asked about the trail so far.

Minor and I went to a pizza place in town, split a large pizza, then checked into a motel.

  1. Really roughing it out there... Oregon beers at the border. Nice! my kind of PCT trip.

In case you haven't been checking the Facebook, Kai had dog ankle surgery about a month ago. He tore a bunch of ligaments and is out for another 4 weeks.

He's so wound up from being bed ridden, don't be surprised if he shows up on the trail behind you when you hit Washington, once he's mobile again. Just giving you a heads up.
